Desktop Publishing Operator

Program Objective

The objective of this program is to provide the student with opportunities to acquire and apply the knowledge of desktop publishing & basic marketing skills to meet the demands of today’s business.

Program Notes

Tuition fees include student manuals and all other course material. Financial assistance may be available to qualified students. Graduation requirements: Students must achieve a 75% average to obtain a diploma.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop brochures.
  • Newsletters and promotional materials.
  • HTML and website development.

Personal Attributes Required

  • Good reading, writing and presentation skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Knowledge of general office and research procedures

Admission Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent or Mature Student Status.
  • Courses are open to any applicant who possesses a good command of the English language and is able to follow instructions.
  • An admissions interview will be administered to determine if the applicant has the required interest, motivation, and entry-level skills to take this program.
  • Full-time students must attend the required hours per week as per the course schedule and may do so at times convenient to them.
  • Part-time students may set their own schedules to a minimum of two training sessions per week. These times may be scheduled during the day, evenings, or on weekends.

Basic proficiency in a Windows operating system

Introduction to Personal Computers

Basic level of proficiency using the Internet, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Outlook, Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint

  • EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS

Job Search and Résumé Writing

  • GRAPHICS/PRESENTATION

Completion of Publisher and CorelDRAW

  • OFFICE SKILLS

Completion of Office Procedures Level 1, Business Correspondence Level 1, Grammar Essentials for Business Writing, and Customer Service

  • COMPULSORY NON-CREDIT ACTIVITIES
